Hello all! So, we figured there just hasn't been enough BBQ's this week, so we're adding another one! Wahoo!!

But really, for one, it's a holiday & it comes with fireworks after; two, I don't know about you but I could never have enough BBQ's; and three, just bring a different kind of meat and it's like a whole new meal.

Anyway, here's the deal:

What: BBQ followed by fabulous fireworks over by the DATC in Kaysville (which happens to be walking distance from the BBQ location)

When: Friday, July 4th. BBQ @ 7pm and Fireworks are usually around 9:30, 10ish I think.

Where: Dustin Thackeray and Casey Bullock's houseAddress is: 841 E 250 S, Kaysville. Directions from Highway 89, turn west onto Green Street, at the stop sign turn right continuing on Green Street, then take the first left again continuing on Green Street, then turn left on 900 E, then right on 250 S. House is near the end of the street on the right hand side.

What to bring: Hamburgers will be provided but something to share would be great; blankets for fireworks; & games if you so desire.If you can't make the BBQ or have other plans, just come for the fireworks. If you have any questions, let us know and we hope to see you Friday!

The Bountiful Temple is looking for sisters to work in the Youth Center on Saturday mornings. It's a 2 hour time commitment on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th (if there is a fifth) Saturdays of each month. It's really a fun job. You watch/play with the children that are waiting to be sealed to their parents, then you dress them in their white clothes and take them upstairs to be sealed. Kalai and Band have partnered with Education 4 Everyone and will help benefit the Zambia Scholarship Fund. The benefit concert will start at 8 pm on the University of Utah campus at the Social & Behavioral Auditorium (RM 101).

Dear Uni 32nd Warders!

Is there anyone else out there who thought the combination of high school stomps and stake dances had long killed your desire to dance? We recently discovered a gem in Salt Lake City--the Murray Arts Center (MAC), which sponsors lessons, ballroom dances with live classic bands every week (http://www.wrightwayenterprises.com/mac.htm#Dance%20Schedule) in a remarkably uplifting atmosphere--not too dark or loud . . i.e., you can actually see and talk to the people with whom you dance!

Across our Centerville & Salt Lake Wards, we (Varci & Jacob) are starting a group of people interested in learning how to swing dance (key word: Learn). We're inviting any and all to join us Saturday evening for a 7:30 Lindy lesson and dance afterwards. Anyone is welcome to come--whether long-time dancer, or not-since-the-last-stake-dancer--whether alone or with a partner (many of us are coming alone). If you've never been, you will love to see all the elderly couples who come for their date nights (and yes, the bishopric-and-sweeties are welcome to come as well sometime).

As an extra option, a group will be meeting for dinner before the dance, 6:30 p.m. at Sweet Tomatoes in Midvale @ 7455 S. Hot Chocolate Carnaval:

Scott and I are putting on a little hot chocolate party/open house planned for Tuesday night (Dec 18th) at my place in West Kaysville. Bring your own favorite flavor of hot chocolate, or sample our collection. We'll have some snacks/treats to compliment the hot chocolate.

The get together will be between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. I hope you all can make it. Pass the word around and invite whomever you wish.

The address is 1614 W. Leola Street, Kaysville. For those who know where Bryan Hill lives, my street is one block north of the street (Ramola Street) he lives on.

Directions: head west on 200 North in Kaysville. The construction just off the freeway makes it a bit interesting to find, but it isn't too bad. As you go under I-15, stay in the right lane heading west. The road curves in front of the car dealership and goes over the railroad tracks to 900 West (aka, Kays drive). Turn left at 900 West. Turn right when you get to the stop light. You should be back on 200 North. Head west for one mile until you hit a stop sign. Put the stop sign back up, and then turn left onto Angel Street. Drive south, one mile on Angel. You'll see a Church of Christ on your right side. Leola Street is right there. Turn right onto Leola. My home is half way down the street on the right. Hey, I'm your new social secretary. Welcome to our blog.

I will be here to serve you and provide you with any information you might be looking for.

When I dreamt up this blog idea I thought it'd be great if this site could be one of your first places to look for a roommate, a job, or something to do this weekend. I understand I won't be able to provide as much information as craigslist, or other huge sights. One benefit of our small corner of cyberspace will be that you know who you are dealing with here, no scary people allowed.

This blog is still in the trial stage. I want to try it out and see if it works. If it doesn't, I'm back to mass emails and a bunch of texting. With your help, I think this will actually become a really great network for our ward. I will post anything and everything you want me to, so please email me at mysocialbug@hotmail.com with anything you may be looking for or anything you want me to pass along.

To those of you who haven't used a blog before, it is easy! Play around, you'll catch on quick.

I'll post some entries so you can see how it works. Since it isn't a website with the capability of creating different pages I will label each entry 'job' 'info' 'roommate' 'party' etc. Then on the side bar where the labels are listed you will be able to search the entries for the info you are looking for.
